He followed her in silence,
trying to avoid make any sound. Doing that was usually easy. General knew how
properly took steps without been noticed. Normally he didn't make stupid
mistakes, but this time…
"You
can stop hiding, my general."
He squealed,
jumping in fear while he heard Moge-kov voice. Then he blushed in
embarrassment.
She slowly
turned away. Her ice-cold blue eyes looked exactly at the place he was hiding.
Trying to make his best to pretend everything is alright, Mogekov came out from
behind the tree. The snow crunched under his feet.
"Did
something's wrong?", she asked, tilted her head.
"O-of
course not!", he huffed, looked away. "I just… strolling."
"Oh,
okay."
General
knew she didn't believe him. Moge-kov knew him too good, and that was the
problem. She perfectly pretended she didn't notice his strange behavior, but
Hashasky knew she did. Maybe she just didn't care, or she was trying to make
him comfortable.
She always
did that. He could only guess why, but his subordinate supported him whatever
he did. Whenever he was scared, Moge-kov was there, closing her eyes at how
pathetic he was. She came to rescue him after he was kidnapped by Moge-ko and
since then…
Oh,
something was different. Or maybe he finally noticed things, which were obvious
from the very beginning.
"Hey…
We could… stroll together", he said. Or rather tried, because his voice
seemed to be so weak and silently.
But she
heard him.
"Indeed,
my general."
So they
did. Walking side by side, they were strolling through the snowy forest.
General stared at the ground, too nervous to looked at his companion. It was
enough for him to know that she was there. He could feel her warm. In the
corner of his eye, he observed her gently movements. The way she lightly stepped
on snowy ground, somehow reminded him of a falling snow. In the good way, of
course. Her ice-cold eyes seemed to be warm and gentle whenever he looked in
them.
"My
general…", she said suddenly. He tensed by hearing her voice. "May I
ask you something?"
"Y-yeah…
Why not?"
Why he
needed to sound like a scared mouse?! Blushed again and cleaned his voice,
trying to calm down.
"Did I
do something wrong?"
He stopped
that suddenly that he almost fall. What…?!
"Why
did you…?"
"I
don't know. You're just looking at me that strange way since we back to
Kremlin", she confessed. With a sigh, she closed her eyes. "I was
thinking about that earlier. And maybe I deserved it. I truly apologize I
wasn't able to protect you when you needed."
Okay, that
was too much. He was looking at her with his jaw dropped. When he realized
that, quickly shuts up his mouth, but still wasn't able to control his
thoughts.
What
nonsense she was saying? General tried to deny, but he was out of words. So he
just stared at her, blushing and shaking his head.
"It's…
I mean… How did you…?"
Moge-kov
narrowed her eyes.
"My
general?"
"Aaaaaagh."
He turned
away, hiding his face in the hands. Like a coward, but who cared? Gasping and
trying to catch his breath, he stayed still for a while. Hashasky was able to
feel Moge-kov gaze, but not to look at her. Her ice-cold eyes somehow were
making everything harder.
"It's
just…", he mumbled, rubbishing his face. "I mean… It's not your fault
at all. You came."
"But…"
"Wanna
some frozen yogurt?"
Oh, well…
He didn't mean to said that, really, but that was the first thing he was to
come to his mind. Next to: do you wanna build a snowman with me?
I'm the
snowman. For a god sake.
They stood
in silence. He still wasn't able to look at her, even if everything started to
be… uncomfortable. Why did he say that? And how she could think that she…?
Suddenly
Moge-kov laughed.
General
froze. Slowly looked behind, truly confused. He raised an eyebrow, looking at
his companion curiously. She didn't laugh often. Not that way, so cheerfully
and innocent.
"Wha…?
What is so funny?!", he groaned, shaking his hands.
"I…
I'm sorry! It's just…" Moge-kov covered her mouth, still giggling. "I
couldn't stop myself. I guess what are you doing, my general."
"You
are?"
"Maybe",
she answered more seriously. She was quickly back to her normal self. "I
appreciate. And yes, we can get some frozen yogurt if you want."
"R-really?"
She smiled
with her usual distance.
"Of
course.", she said, and just gone away.
General
gasped and in rush run for her. What did just happen?, he thought in
disbelieve, but that wasn't important.
Moge-kov
was smiling. And seemed to know she was precious from him – almost that much as
frozen yogurt he was cherishing.
That was enough. At lest for now.
